The Stryker is an eight-wheeled armored vehicle designed to carry a squad of infantry (nine soldiers) along with the driver and vehicle commander. It is faster and quieter than the tracked M2 Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle. Over three hundred Strykers are deployed in Iraq. Originally, the Strykers in Iraq are from 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (3d Bde-2d ID), which is also called the 1st SBCT (Stryker Brigade Combat Team). They are being replaced by the Lancers of the 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division.
