The Dread Pirate Ethan of York's NotebookWarning and Disclaimer
Ethan, Son of Corwin, Dread Pirate of York, was a character I played in Sarah Kindred's Sins of the Fathers Amber game. SotF ran from 1993 through 1995; it was a consuming and engaging experience. This disclaimer is here for those of you who may not be familiar with role playing games. It is my opportunity to set out the following information:
- The material here is the product of three years of what, to a non-gamer, I can best
describe as improvisational theater.
- Ethan is a fictional charater -- the materials here are written mostly from his point
of view, and in his voice.
- Most of the writing is from character contributions that I wrote for the game.
Writing character contributions in an Amber game is a way of obtaining more resources
to enhance your character's abilities/possessions.
- Ethan -- who some described as a piratical swine was an honorable, though not
exactly nice man: some of the things he describes are nasty and violent.
- What Ethan did are not things that I have done. So, dear reader, do not be affraid or start looking for the number to call the men in the white coats.
